The Use of Fuel Derived from Vegetable Oil in Some Diesel Cars Made by the Ford Company

During a test on the 2-liter EcoBlue transit diesel car, the Ford company realized that they could replace conventional fossil fuels with Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil (HVO) without any modification to the engine.

The fuel is available for the public at some certain gas stations throughout Europe, especially Scandinavia and the Baltic States and is sold in a pure form or a mixed form with diesel fuel. This fuel can be combined in any proportion with conventional diesel fuel.

This type of fuel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90% when compared to fossil fuels. Furthermore, less Nitrogen Oxide and fewer polluting particles are produced and thus, air quality can be improved by using it.
